Through this programme, we will examine influential elements in Arabic literature, from the impact of Arab women on the genre to renowned literary prizes that encourage inspired work to emerge. We will also look at celebrated fantasy novels and children’s literature and discuss new regional releases, including ones by the Abu Dhabi Arabic Language Centre. Discussions will cover transcreation as we look beyond traditional translation into a new, more inspiring approach; and trending topics, such as the rise of artificial intelligence, the impact of new software like ChatGPT and a range of self and human-development topics. Prominent artists and art producers will join us to analyse current art trends and challenges facing museums due to social and technological changes. We will also host lively debates that discuss general and specialised topics, with a particular focus on the publishing industry, to foster inspiration using an exciting medium.
The popularity and accessibility of genre fiction—such as mystery, fantasy, sci-fi, horror, and more—are on the rise in the Arab world. These types of books are not only drawing in more Arabic readers but also have the potential to transcend borders and languages.
